Planning permission has been applied for a new entrance foyer at a hotel in Portrush. The new foyer aims to create an exciting arrival space for all the hotel guests; the sweeping arc guides residents into the hotel, creating a strong focal point from the road. The arc wall is proposed to be constructed from
St Johnston’s stone; the monolithic stone wall a careful contrast with the existing, traditionally detailed, elevations.
Internally, the double height curved wall guides residents to reception, or to the stairs, which follow along the curved wall. The entrance space is mainly double height, with the stairs rising up towards a mezzanine, the presence of which creates a single storey area below.
