Zero Carbon / Passive Housing
The Green House in Holywood, Co. Down is our first zero-carbon house and achieves this through the first principle of HIGH INSULATION VALUE of the exterior skin.
Whilst we all love gadgets, the first thing to love in any low energy build is INSULATION, INSULATION, INSULATION.
You can have all the gadgets in the world, but if your building is heat-leaky, you will regret that more effort / thinking was not put into the external skin. (Your gadgets will also be expensive to run!).
Code For Sustainable Homes
The code has recently been introduced as the future-proofing means to design & specify new dwellings.
We have successfully designed housing to code 3, code 4 & code 6.
During 2010, we hope to complete Northern Ireland's first code 6 house in Belfast.
